Dear Yuletide

Hi potential future Yuletide writer!

I’m OceanMyth on ao3. This letter is likely to be long, but I’ve done my best to section it into things I like generally, versus specific things I like about a given fandom. I left some prompt-ish ideas for inspiration, but if they don’t gel with what you’re thinking about writing, feel free to leave them. Treating is on and welcome. I’m super excited to read anything you write for me, and I’ll love anything you write for these fandoms!

General Likes:
Tropes:
- Domestic Fluff/Slice of Life
- Angst
- Soulmate AUs (preferably not involving color blindness/seeing color relating to meeting your soulmate)
- Mutual Pining
- Getting Together
- Unrequited Pining
- Competency Kink (or incompetency kink)
- Friends to Lovers
- Rivals to Lovers
- Genderswap (for f/f purposes, or to make the pov character in a ship female)
- Time Travel
- Outsider POV
- Miscommunication
If it’s not obvious, I like messy feelings between my characters - I prefer it when it’s neither character’s “fault” for a given situation that might have caused the messy feelings, but there’s something wonderful to me when two characters choose to do the work. Themes surrounding “Love is work,” are always great to me.

Other General Likes:
- Horror Aesthetics (Gore, Violence, General Air of Unease— Cosmic and Body horror are particular favorites)
- Folklore/Fairytales— whether it’s folklore inspired worldbuilding, the inclusion of a specific story for thematic reasons, creatures or even wholesale plot inspiration.
- Dream-sharing/dreams in general (prophetic or otherwise)
- the inhuman (faery, alien etc) adjusting to living with humans
- Unexplained magical occurrences— I like magic/fantasy to have an air of mystery if possible, much more a fan of vibes than hard-magic styled worldbuilding when it comes to magic.

Smut Likes:
- Oral Sex
- Frottage
- Femdom
- Desperation
- Intercrual
- PIV penetration
- Mutual Masturbation
- Dubcon (bonus if w/ Sex Pollen)
- General messy feelings of regret & shame (though not internalized homophobia related for non-Arthuriana canons)
- Somnophilia
High school AUs, Modern AUs for canons not in a modern setting such as Coffee Shop AUs, Mafia AUs or Florist AUs, mundane/no power AUs, scat, emetophilia, anal sex, mpreg, omegaverse.

Dredge:

This game is so beautiful, and full of so much potential. The story is simple enough that there’s tons and tons of space to worldbuild and investigate the horrific dimensions that have caused this world to exist in its current form. I love all the characters, barebones as they are, and would love to see any expansion or exploration you’d like to do with them. I’m open to literally any relationship you want to set up between the characters. Any pairings or characters you’d like to write for are okay by me!

Prompts:
- What is the red-and-silver book, exactly, and how did it come to be?
- All the fucked up fish you’d like to write about, and however you’d like to do it.
- Vignettes of horror stories that happening alongside, before, or after, the story we get in Dredge but taking place in the same setting.

The Last Unicorn:

This movie <3. I just adore it so much, it’s such a tangled depiction of immortality and inhumanity and the relationship between Lír and the Unicorn—honestly it doesn’t get enough attention in the movie, but it’s ripe with potential imo; especially in situations where the story doesn’t quite end in the same way. I'd love to see Fem!Lir, in whatever form you'd like to write it, I'd love to see worlds where they're not so doomed, where the relationship can develop and blossom as it will - they are so sweet, and I care about them. (Also please please whump Prince Lir).

Ship Prompts:
- Prince Lír/The Unicorn | Lady Amalthea
- The idea of the Unicorn having to save her human lover again is very near and dear to my heart—and I would especially love it if it happened after they parted ways, and neither of them thought they would see each other again.
- I’d love to see a situation similar to the “zoo” rescue of the Unicorn by Schmedrick, where Prince Lír has to grapple with the ways in which people seek to take advantage of the Unicorn — perhaps one of his subjects captures the Unicorn and then presents her to him like a gift; in an attempt to curry his favor, and that’s the way they meet again post-canon
- The Unicorn’s emotions don’t go away after she returns to her Unicorn form. She can still feel, just like a human does, and something is wrong. Perhaps she’s sick, perhaps Haggard poisoned her, perhaps—it’s up to you.

Damar Series:

Robin McKinley’s world and writing style are so ethereal and atmospheric, and I love how it integrates into the characters’ psyches and experiences. I’m absolutely and hopelessly fascinated by Aerin, Luthe, and Tor – the nuance of Aerin’s relationships, the wait that Luthe experiences before she returns to him, her decision to stay with Tor for as long as she can – there’s a richness and depth there that I’d love to see more of, in whatever way you’d like to explore.

Scavengers Reign:

This show! I love the speculative biology so so much, and there’s something about the characters that makes them incredibly rich to explore. My favorites are Sam and Ursula (and the inherent tragedy of their trip), but if there’s something you want to explore involving the other characters and worldbuilding, you should absolutely go for it! I’m open to literally any relationship you want to set up between the characters.

I’d be curious about a scenario where Sam survives, and what that means for the crew and how his experiences with the parasite shape his relationship with Levi…or exploring the fallout of canon…or something set before canon begins—or literally anything you can think of.

Ursula is my best girl, and I’d love to see what sorts of mystic and almost sacred experiences she continues to have with the flora and wildlife of Vesta—or what it would take to change her mind about how she experiences the planet, if you want to do a bit of whump.

Slay the Princess:

Oh, the infinite complexities of the love between the Long Quiet and the Shifting Mound! Oh, the ways in which the Hero (and his voices) and the Princess (and her aspects) hurt each other! I’d love to see situations in which the construct (woods, cabin, dungeon, princess) evolves and expands, the narrator’s reaction to it, and how the limited experiences shape both characters—there’s a lot of room beyond the scope of the game to explore how a new princess might be formed after all.

Or, what it would look like for the Hero to have a route/voice similar to the path of Apotheosis!

My favorite princesses are definitely the Witch and the Thorn—and I’d love to see a…witchier take on the Witch (she deserves to cast a spell or two).
